مستشفى الاستقلال ومؤسسة شفاء القلب يعيدوا الحياة لطفل سوري لاجئ وسته اخرين

حصاد نيوز –  عبدالله طفل لا يتجاوز عمره الثلاثة أشهر ولم يتمكن من البكاء أبداً، حتى عندما نزح أهله من موطنه سوريا بسبب الحرب المدمرة هناك ولا حتى عندما وجدو الملجئ في مخيم الزعتري على الحدود الأردنية. لقد أراد عبدالله البكاء ولكن رئتاه خذلتاه. وعندما قررت الأم مراجعة المستشفى في إربد تبين أن عبدالله يعاني من مرض وراثي في القلب حيث يدخل الدم الوارد من الأورده الرئويه والمشبع بالأكسجين إلى الأذين الأيمن بدلاً من الأذين الأيسر مما يتسبب بإرتفاع في ضغط الدم الرئوي وإزدياد كمية السوائل في الرئتين.

والدة عبدالله اخبرت ان حالة إبنها حرجه ويحتاج إلى عملية جراحية مستعجلة الا ان الإمكانيات المالية لعمل مثل هذه الجراحة غير متوفرة اطلاقا وهذا يعني ان لعبدالله عدة أسابيع من الحياه فقط .

طبيب عبدالله في مدينة إربد قام بالاتصال مع مؤسسة شفاء القلب ًوهي مؤسسة إيطالية غير حكومية تتولى عمل عمليات جراحية متخصصة في القلب للأطفال في الشرق الأوسط حيث يقود الدكتور جيان كارلو كروبي الفريق الجراحي والمشهور عالمياً في أوروبا وأفريقيا وأسيا. فأجتمع الطاقم الطبي والجراحي في مستشفى الإستقلال لفحص الطفل الرضيع حيث تبين لهم بعد الفحص إن حالة الطفل عبدالله تحتاج إلى تدخل جراحي فوري.الا ان المؤسسة كانت قد اجرت ستت عمليات كبرى لاطفال وكانت الميزانية المخصصة للمهمة قد تم إستنزافها في العمليات التي أجريت للأطفال الستة ، فتم رفض الحالة. بعد ذلك وبسبب الرغبة الجامحة لمساعدة عبدالله قامت مؤسسة شفاء قلب الطفل بمتابعة حالة عبدالله ومحاولة إنقاذ حياتة وذلك بالتوجه لمواقع التواصل الإجتماعي لمحاولة نشر قصة عبدالله لجمع التبرعات لتغطية تكاليف عمليته الجراحية. وبفضل الله كانت الإستجابة فورية وكبيرة وتم التحضير للعملية وإرسال سيارة إسعاف لإحضار عبدالله من مدينة إربد إلى مستشفى الإستقلال في مدينة عمان.

كانت عملية عبدالله طويلة ومعقدة وقد تم نقل عبدالله إلى قسم العناية الحثيثة، حيث كانت حياتة تعتمد على مدى قدرة جسده الضعيف على الشفاء من بعد العملية الجراحية، وبعد يومين من الصراع تمكن عبدالله من التغلب على المصاعب ويستجيب لنداء والدته وذلك بالضغط على يدها وعاد معدل ضربات قلبه للطبيعي. لقد فرح الجميع وتمت ازالة جهاز التنفس الإصطناعي وتنفس بصعوبة في البداية ولكن بعد ذلك تمكن من التنفس بشكل طبيعي وأطلق صوته للعنان ببكاء لم يتمكن سابقاً من بكاءه ولم يكن هناك أعذب من هذا الصوت. أخرج الطفل عبدالله هو والأطفال الستة الأخرون من مستشفى الاستقلال لبيوتهم مع أهاليهم الفرحين بإنتهاء معاناة أطفالهم.

أن مؤسسة شفاء قلب الطفل هي مؤسسة إيطالية غير حكومية تتولى عمل عمليات جراحية متخصصة في القلب للأطفال في الشرق الأوسط حيث يقود الدكتور جيان كارلو كروبي الفريق الجراحي والمشهور عالمياً في أوروبا وأفريقيا وأسيا. وفي عمان وبالتحديد مستشفى الإستقلال وجدت مؤسسة شفاء قلب الطفل ضالتها كمكان إستراتيجي لقيامها بتقديم المساعدة للأطفال الذين يعانون من أمراض القلب الوراثية. هذه مهمة تم تمويلها بالكامل من مؤسسة هبة الحياة إيطاليا – نيويورك حيث قامت بجمع التبرعات لتغطية التكاليف الباهظة لعلاج ستة أطفال. قام الفريق الدولي من أطباء مؤسسة شفاء قلب الطفل بعمل العمليات الجراحية في مستشفى الإستقلال بدون كلل ولا ملل حيث تجرى العمليات بالنهار ويعتنون بالأطفال وأهاليهم بالليل. وقد تكللت المهمة بالنجاح وبدء الأطفال بإستعادة عافيتهم بعد العمليات الجراحية.

لا تزال مؤسسة شفاء قلب الطفل تبحث عن مصادر مالية لتقوم برفع المعاناة عن اطفال أخرين كعبدالله والذين حياتهم في خطر. قامت مؤسسة شفاء قلب الطفل ومستشفى الإستقلال بتوحيد الجهود وأتفقوا على توقيع مذكرة تفاهم وتعاون لتوفير المساعدة لأكبر عدد من الأطفال الذين يعانون من أمراض القلب الوراثية. لقد جلب هذا المشروع الإنتباه والدعم من المؤسسات الخيرية حول العالم وخاصة من مؤسسة هبة الحياة في إيطاليا – نيويورك والتي ستساهم بتمويل عدد كبير من العمليات الجراحية في المستقبل.

إن هذا المشروع الدولي المشترك يأمل بأن يحقق ما يفوق إنقاذ حياة الأطفال في الشرق الأوسط، حيث أنه يصبو لدعم التواصل الثقافي والإجتماعي بين الأمم المختلفه، وعلى المدى الطويل دعم المؤسسات الصحية لتوفير الدعم الجراحي وبصورة مستقلة لمن يحتاجها من الأطفال.

The Kid who could not cry

Abdulla was 3-month-old and had never cried. He did not drop a tear when his family fled Syria as his homeland was ravaged with war. Not even when they found shelter in the Za’atari refugee camp, at the border with Jordan. Omar wanted to cry, but all his lungs afforded him was panting with sufferance. Thus, his mother decided to seek medical assistance in Irbid, the closest city home to a hospital. In leaving for the town, the family was forced to split up, as the father was not legally entitled to enter Jordan territory. Left alone with a sick child, the mother could only rely on the medical personnel of the hospital. However, the local pediatric cardiologist could do nothing but diagnose Omar with a severe congenital lesion, named Total Anomalous Pulmonary Veins Drainage, causing the blood from all the pulmonary veins entered the right atrium instead of the left atrium. This lesion resulted in pulmonary hypertension and flooding of the lungs. The local hospital could not offer the cardiac surgery he desperately needed, leaving the infant with few weeks left to live.

Healing a Child’s Heart (HCH) is an Italian NGO engaged in providing cardiac surgery to children in Middle East. The association’s surgical effort is led by Dr. Giancarlo Crupi, whose medical track record embraces several continents – Europe, Africa and Asia –. In Amman’s Istiklal Hospital, HCH found a strategic place from where to offer assistance to children with congenital heart disease without access to specialized treatments. The mission was entirely financed by Gift of Life Italy of New York that raised funds to pay for the expensive hospitalization and treatment of 6 kids. At Istiklal, HCH’s international team of doctors worked relentlessly, performing surgeries in the day and taking care of the kids and families in the evening. The mission was going greatly and all 6 kids seemed to recover well from the operations.

It was 2pm of a torrid Wednesday in Amman, when HCH received a phone call from Abdulla’s Irbid-based doctor, describing how critical his patient’s situation was. The medical team at Istiklal are summoned to examine the infant’s case and immediately realizes that his tragic conditions require immediate help. However, HCH has exhausted its funds for the mission recently completed and lacks the funds required for the hospitalization and forcefully has to refuse the case. Soon after, driven by the burning desire to help Abdulla, HCH reconsiders and decides to pursue the case and try to save the 3-month-old by turning to social media to tell the story of Abdulla and raise funds. The reaction is immediate and overwhelming. The operation was rapidly sets up while an emergency ambulance transport is sent to Irbid to bring Abdulla to Amman.

The surgery on Abdulla is lengthy and complex and the 3-month-old is transferred in intensive care unit, where his life strictly depends on the ability of his weak body to recover from the operation. The odds seem not to support him, as he slowly reacts to the treatments. Only after two days the struggle of Abdulla seems to turn on his favor, and he starts to respond to the attentions of his mother. With his full hand, the infant grabs her finger and his heartbeat lowers to normal levels. The nurse smiles and finally removes the respirator that has kept. At first he chokes, then pants a few times as he learns how to breathe normally. Then he cries. Never did a kid’s cry sound merrier.

Abdulla was discharged finally from Istiklal hospital as were the other 6 kids who happily returned home with their families. At the same time, Healing a Child’s Heart is still looking for the resources to pay for this surgery, and for that of many other children whose destiny is still at stake. HCH and Istiklal have recently joined their forces and committed to sign an agreement to collaborate for providing assistance to as many kids with congenital cardiac disease as possible. The project is quickly gaining traction and earned the support from associations all around the globe, above all from Gift of Life of Italy – New York that has contributed to finance several surgeries.

This joint international project hopes to achieve more than saving the life of Middle Eastern children. The objective is to support intercultural communication among different nations and, in the long term, reinforce the ability of local structures to independently provide assistance to those in need.
